Do Police Officers really work in the Wells Township Haunted House ?
Yes. Several area Police Officers are involved in the Wells Township Haunted House. Currently we have Officers from the Wells Township Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Tiltonsville Police Department working inside the house. All of these officers volunteer their time to work with the youth volunteers and get involved in the house. Each one is in character and working in various rooms and also provide interior and exterior security. This not only helps them build positive relationships with the youth involved but we can brag up the fact that we have the absolute safest Haunted House in the world ;). It's not often that a Haunted House can say "Our actors have powers of arrest!"
How are room themes decided ?
Basically we set the actors loose at the beginning of work details. They choose a room and effect and run with it. Our creative staff either approves, tweaks or changes the room and we go with it. Even though some rooms are great and gain popularity, like the Redneck Room in 2004, we change each room from year to year.
Who is the Director ?
Sean Norman, a Captain with the Wells Township Police Department. You can contact Captain Norman in the Contacts link on the main page.
How can I work at the Wells Township Haunted House ?
You have to be at least 14 years of age and be available on Fridays and Saturdays. Your talent level is not a problem. We currently have a few actors who are under the age of 14, but, they signed on before the 14 and over rule took effect. Basically, to sign up and work, all you have to do is ask our director. If you are an adult, you must possess a positive influence and be able to project that influence on the youth working in the Wells Township Haunted House. If you are a teenager, you must be able to work effectively with others, keep your grades up and keep yourself out of trouble. We have well over 80 people working this year, BUT, we can and will continue to accept new people to work the Haunted House. In order to work at the Wells Township Haunted House you must agree to our confidentiality policy. What happens here stays here, that simple. You will be forced to speak personally with our Director and endure his interview process.
Do you do Movie Themes ?
Only if they nail it. Our tourists must walk into a room and know right away that they have entered a movie theme room. We are not big on movie theme rooms, we like originality. If a room has a movie theme ,it is dead on and tourists know they have entered a movie theme room.
What's the deal with the Lobby music ?
Many have asked why we have decided to play the music in the lobby that is not typical Haunted House music. We choose not to be the typical haunted house. Having that in mind, we chose the music as a way to pump up our guest and get them ready for their tour. Michael Myers likes to play in the lobby area and he made it known that he gets an adrenaline rush from the music in the lobby.
How long does it take to tour the Wells Township Haunted House ?
Each tour takes approximately 30-40 minutes
How long will I have to wait before my tour begins ?
Each year we continue to grow more and more popular. As a result, it is hard to determine how long you must wait before your tour begins. Basically, it depends on how early you arrive and how many people sign up to tour the house. If you arrive early, your tour will be put into the house sooner. The later you arrive, the longer you will be forced to wait. We continue to do everything in our power to lessen the wait, however, waits can last as long as 3 hours or more for those arriving late.
What makes the wait so long ?
Consider this, each tour last 30-40 minutes. We have, at least, three tours in the house at the same time. Mathematically, you would wait 15-20 minutes for each tour to begin once three tours are in the house. If you are in group five, for example, your wait could be over one hour. We can and will put four tours in the house at the same time but can only do so for a short period of time as not to over exert our actors. We are not permitted more than four tours in the house at one time due to fire code.
Do you allow young children to tour the Wells Township Haunted House ?
We do not recommend our haunt to anyone under 12 years of age. We will allow those under 12 to tour the haunt if they wish, however, they do so at their own risk. This haunt is very scary and intended for mature audiences based on that alone. There is no adult themed matter, just rooms aimed at scaring older tourists.
Do you have anything to offer young children ?
Yes. We host a LIGHTS ON TOUR for our younger fans. This is designed for elementary aged and younger school children. It is also a great opportunity for adults to check out all the work that goes into each year. Basically, all lights will be on, no scary music will be played and no one is in character. Our tour guides will guide a non-scary tour through each room in the house. Tourists will get to meet the actors. The actors will describe what took place in their room and relate some stories about what they did to scare people in the room.
Are you handicap accessible ?
At this time our haunt is NOT handicap accessible
